Bachelor programme Information Technology

Contents and focus of the degree programme:

The bachelor's programme in Information Technology provides a sound basic education and imparts a practical methodology. Students will acquire basic engineering skills in mathematics, electrical engineering and physics. They will acquire knowledge of the basics of information and communication technology and electronics. The students are trained in the development, conception and the operation of information technology systems. The students will get familiar with system technology models and acquire skills for holistic problem resolution which integrates hardware and software. Moreover, they will acquire knowledge in the areas of management and economics. The students will do a practical laboratory training and specialise in one of the areas of information technology, such as mobile and wireless networks, embedded systems, intelligent traffic systems, applied mechatronics or measurement and controls engineering.

Definition of the field of studies

Information Technology deals with the mathematical and technological basics of modern information and communication technologies. Information is dealt with in the form of voice data, images, videos or measurement data. Students can choose between two branches of study: - Engineering, or - Business Engineering

Exams

The bachelor's programme in Information Technology consists of the following subjects: higher mathematics I and II, electrical engineering and physics, informatics and software development, electronics and controls, signals and systems, measurement and controls engineering, computer and network technology, advanced information technology, laboratory exercises in information and communication technology as well as skills enhancement. Students also have to study free electives and write a bachelor's thesis.
