Contents and focus of the degree programme:

The bachelor's programme imparts sound knowledge in the fields of business administration and management, information and communication technology as well as foreign language skills (especially English), interdisciplinary leadership skills, social skills and personality skills and communication skills. The special features of this programme at the University of Applied Sciences Innsbruck are the specialisation options in future-oriented applications of management, communications & IT in the areas of media, tourism, learning and health. Students will benefit from a practice-oriented and internationally oriented education and close collaboration with the industry within the framework of projects. Graduates will have a wide range of job perspectives in companies with communication and IT systems and they can pursue a career in the services industry, the health sector, trade, hardware manufacturers, software and system companies, media companies, banks, business consultancy firms and insurance companies. The medium of instruction is German and English.

Definition of the field of studies

The discipline of Management, Communication & IT deals with the conception of innovative IT solutions for communication between companies and their customers at the interface of business administration and IT.


The bachelor's programme lasts four semesters and includes the following subjects: Communication, Corporate communication (English, project management), IT, Information and Communication Technologies (Databases & systems development, system planning, trends in business informatics), Management & Business Administration (accounting, empirical social research & statistics, international marketing & sales, personnel management, company foundation & business plan), specialisation: eHealth and eLearning or Digital Arts & Media and eTourism. In the 6th semester students have to do a 15-week integrative professional internship in Austria or abroad. Students have the possibility to study a semester at one of the numerous partner universities abroad. They have to write two bachelor's theses. The programme concludes with a bachelor's examination.

Entrance examinations

The prerequisite for admission to this programme is a school leaving certificate, a subject-related university entrance qualification exam or a vocational diploma qualifying for studying at a higher education institution (Berufsreifeprüfung) or, in case of people without a higher education entrance qualification, a subject-related professional qualification provided that one of the following conditions applies: successful completion of dual education and training in a subject-related skilled trade or successful completion of a secondary school of vocational education. Moreover, students have to pass supplementary examinations in the subjects of German, English and mathematics. The level of the examinations corresponds to that of the university entrance qualification exam for social and economic sciences.
