Definition of the field of studies

The Midwifery programme deals with the support, care and consultation services for women during their pregnancy and delivery as well as in childbed.

Exams

The bachelor´s programme in Midwifery consists of subjects such as “Occupation-specific basics of midwifery”, “Medical basics of midwifery”, “Legal basics of midwifery”, “Physiology in the pre-partum phase – medical area”, “Pathology in obstetrics – midwifery-specific area”, “Pathology in obstetrics – medical area”, “Neonatology”, “Paediatrics”, “Obstetric emergencies – midwifery area”, “Obstetric emergencies – medical area”, “Psychosocial issues in obstetrics”, “Fertility and reproduction”, “Women’s and family health”, “Women and social issues”, “Alternative care methods”, “Innovative models of freelance midwifery”, “Midwifery in home births”, “Self-management and communication”, “Personality training I + II”, “Communication and interdisciplinary teamwork”, “Professional law”, “Forensics”, “Public relations and marketing for midwives”, “Quality management”, “Professional English I – IV”, “Academic basics”, “Methodology of midwifery” and “Evidence-Based Midwifery”. During the programme students have to do six work placements. To complete the programme students have to write two bachelor theses.
