Bachelor programme Geosciences

Contents and focus of the degree programme:

The degree programme is offered as a joint programme of the Karl-Franzens University Graz and the Graz University of Technology within the framework of the Natural Sciences Graz project. The aim of the bachelor's programme in geosciences is academic and practical pre-vocational education for the collection, analysis and interpretation of earth sciences processes and their interaction with the environment. In addition to general basics in chemistry, physics, mathematics, zoology and botany elementary knowledge in earth sciences in the subjects of geology, palaeontology, petrology, mineralogy, geochemistry and geophysics is taught on one hand and on the other hand a specialisation in subjects of applied earth sciences is offered. In the bachelor's programme basic knowledge as a basis for continuing scientific research at universities, research institutions and museums is imparted in all subdisciplines of earth sciences and basic skills for many occupations, e.g. in the building sector, environmental economics, water management or the extractive industry are acquired.
