Contents and focus of the degree programme:

The master’s programme in Global Business provides students with a scientifically sound education in key management functions and the development of global ways of thinking and a global course of action through stays in three cultural / economic regions and the participation of students from Europe, Asia and North America, the development of intercultural skills including language proficiency in English and Chinese as well as development of personal and social skills through continuous interaction of the students. The inter-university master’s programme is carried out by the Johannes Kepler University Linz in cooperation with the University of Victoria in Canada and the National Sun Yatsen University in Taiwan. With this programme students are prepared for working in a global and intercultural environment. The medium of instruction is English.

Definition of the field of studies

The degree programme in Global Business deals with the challenges of global competition and the management methods required for this.


The master’s programme in Global Business consists of compulsory subjects and a master’s thesis. The compulsory subjects are “General Management Competence“, “Methods in Management Research“, “Language Skills English“, “Global Business Fundamentals“, “Global Business Development“, “Global Business Consulting“, “Global Business in Context“, “Global Leadership and Cultural Intelligence“ and “Language Skills II“. In the subject “General Management Competence“ five of the following modules must be chosen: “Managerial Accounting“, “Corporate Finance“, „Financial Accounting“, “Human Resource & Change Management“, “Marketing“, “Organization“ and “Strategic Management“. In the subject “Language Skills II“ students have to study the subject “Language Skills Chinese”. A study period abroad is compulsory. At the end of the degree programme students have to write a master’s thesis in English and pass a master’s examination.

To apply for this programme prospective students have to submit an application with application / cover letter, curriculum vitae and they have to complete an interview in English.
