Definition of the field of studies

The discipline Entrepreneurship & Tourism focuses on the identification and use of market chances either on their own or their support within an organisation with the aim of achieving innovation and sustainable success.

Exams

The master’s programme lasts four semesters and includes the following subjects: Entrepreneurship & Leadership Skills (foundation of a company, controlling), Family Business Management, International Tourism & Markets (emerging tourism markets, tourism marketing), Destination & Innovation (tourism policy & structural development, eTourism), scientific research (major Strategic Management & Tourism); Entrepreneurship & Leadership Skills (controlling & finance, strategic leadership, intercultural skills), Marketing Management (eMarketing, tourism marketing, strategic pricing), international tourism & markets (global economies, sustainability & tourism), Destination & Innovation (product development, service design) and scientific research (major Marketing Management & Tourism). It is possible to spend the 3rd semester at a higher education institution abroad. Students have to write a master’s thesis.

Entrance examinations

The requirement for admission to this programme is a completed subject-relevant bachelor programme, especially bachelor programmes in economic sciences with focus on tourism and leisure industry; ideally also subject-relevant work experience of at least one year in the tourism and leisure industry. The economic sciences subjects studied beforehand must correspond to at least 45 ECTS credits.
