In lectures, exercises and seminars the teacher training programme in Latin deals with all epochs and genres of Latin literature from antiquity to modern times, partly providing an overview and partly exploring individual authors or works. Moreover, the degree programme shows connections to the Greek language and literature and provides an insight into neighbouring disciplines such as archaeology and ancient history. In the first few semesters the focus will be on passive and active mastery of the language, i.e. precise translations into German and writing of Latin texts. The subject didactics impart theory-guided and practice-oriented implementation of the acquired subject knowledge in current Latin teaching in Austria.
