Definition of the field of studies

The instrumental studies programme “Early Music – Recorder” provides comprehensive training and perfection in musical and interpretative capabilities as well as the technical skills to perform on the instrument recorder, all of which are required for a professional musical career.

Exams

The degree programme consists of the central artistic discipline, several compulsory subjects (e.g. aural training, composition, musical forms, musical history, chamber music, choir, piano / harpsichord practice, basso continuo for recorder players, correpetition, ornamentation, historically informed performance, basics of academic working techniques as well as sources-oriented academic working technique) and several elective subjects. A priority subject is to be chosen. As of the third semester at the latest attendance is compulsory in the artistic group lessons “Orchestra”. The bachelor examination consists of a programme that is to cover certain areas. It will be determined by the teacher of the central artistic subject which was studied last; the students, however, can also make suggestions. Thirty to forty-five minutes have to be played during the exam.
