Bachelor’s programme Artificial Intelligence

Content and focus of the degree programme:

This study programme is only available in German.

The bachelor’s programme is for people who want to understand what AI really is, which are the underlying ideas and concepts, why AI is so much more efficient in image/pattern recognition than humans, and why the applied methods have natural limitations. The main idea of the course is to acquire solid theoretical background, avoid applying methods without sufficient insight, and to develop the skills that are essential for being able to adjust methodology wherever needed in real-life problems. Methodologically speaking, AI is based on computer sciences and mathematics; having solid background in these two disciplines is essential. The bachelor’s programme in AI, however, goes far beyond computer sciences and mathematics: Students will apply their knowledge hands-on, get to know manifold applications of AI methods, and also train soft skills such as presenting results to different audiences. A very broad range of individual courses (electives) including courses from economics, ethics, bioinformatics and geoinformatics complements the curriculum.
