Definition of the field of studies

Media informatics deals with the basics, technology and applications of systematic and automated information processing. It provides methods and tools to master complex systems in natural sciences, technology and other areas of human life and employs both mathematical-formal and engineering working methods.

In addition to the compulsory modules on basics and interdisciplinary application of informatics this master’s programme also offers alternative compulsory module groups in advanced e-learning technologies, film and animation on the basis of digital media, and game design. In order to guarantee a high supervisory quality in this degree programme, which is geared to project-based learning, more experienced colleagues are increasingly involved and guidance is also offered online (e.g. in forums).
