Content and focus of the degree programme:

The research area Archaeologies embraces the period of time from the first emergence of man approximately four million years ago to the present time. Beside practice-oriented areas, such as the preparation, prospection, organisation, direction and carrying out of archaeological excavations and research projects, the autonomous handling of archaeological find complexes, the compilation of scientific manuscripts and master copies for public relations activities the theoretical basics of an idiographic scientific discipline and the interdisciplinary, e.g. natural sciences methods, which are necessary especially for the analysis of archaeological finds, are taught. Moreover the requirements for the application of modern electronic data collection and analysis procedures correspondent to the current state of the art in research are taught.
