Interpreters are fluent in several languages and translate content from one language to another. Interpreters who work with Austrian Sign Language (ÖGS) and German have an unusual profession, even within the interpreting industry. Their goal is to mediate between different languages and cultures, as well as between people with and without disabilities. They work with their voice and their hands, using their body as a visible projection surface for linguistic expression. The bachelor's degree programme Interpreting: Austrian Sign Language – German opens up a wide range of career prospects and contributes significantly to the inclusion of deaf people. The programme combines linguistic, translational, cultural and technical skills and prepares students for a demanding and socially important profession.
