Master programme Medical Engineering (E)

Content and focus of the degree programme:

The curriculum offers a) basics [11,25 ECTS], b) four technical modules: electronics, biomechanics, medical device software and materials technology (three of them are chosen by each student [30 ECTS] as well as c) the modules medical technology: selected subjects [17,5 ECTS], d) the modules medical systems engineering and project [31,25 ECTS].

Definition of the field of studies

The consecutive master's degree programme in Medical Engineering trains students to act as engineers with the ability to develop medical and rehabilitation devices in the regulatory framework of European and US markets.


By means of the compulsory modules scheduled in the curriculum, the elective modules and a comprehensive project assignment the specific master’s education also becomes an academic one. The programme concludes with a master’s thesis.

Entrance examinations

At the beginning of the master’s programme there are two different basic modules, which enable studying according to different approaches. They differentiate between graduates of study programmes in medical engineering (consecutive approach, basic module A) and graduates of other technological study programmes (basic module B).
