Definition of the field of studies

The Geosciences discipline includes different scientific sub-areas, all dealing with the system earth, and serves to teach basic knowledge in mineralogy, petrology, geology and palaeontology.

The master’s programme in Earth Sciences consists of one stage of study and is divided into a general earth sciences part consisting of the modules 1 – 6 and four specialisations. Specialisations are chosen from the following combinations of modules: geology – petrology, geobiology and palaeoecology, hydrogeology and hydrochemistry. Courses and examinations may be held in English. Courses and examinations in the Engineering Geology specialisation are always held in English. Master’s theses can also be written in English. In the Engineering Geology specialisation the master's thesis must be written in English. Mobility of students in the form of a study period abroad is expressly appreciated.
